Construction Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer\n\nLocation: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire & surrounding areas\n\nSector: Residential & Infrastructure\n\nContract Type: Full-Time, Permanent\n\nSalary: Competitive + Benefits\n\nAn established and well-regarded construction and housebuilding business is seeking a skilled Construction Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to support a portfolio of high-quality residential developments and associated infrastructure works.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer who enjoys being hands-on on live sites, while also contributing to the development and improvement of engineering processes across multiple projects.\n\nThe Role\n\nThe successful candidate will provide core engineering support across active construction sites, with a strong focus on setting out, technical problem-solving and digital engineering delivery. In addition, this role plays an important part in strengthening site engineering capability, supporting senior technical leadership with technical input, buildability advice and value engineering.\n\nYou will work closely with site management, technical teams and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, accurately and efficiently.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSetting out and controlling works using Total Station and GPS equipment\n\nSupporting and managing machine control systems across groundworks and infrastructure packages\n\nProducing and maintaining digital models from CAD information to support site operations\n\nProviding technical support to site teams, resolving engineering and buildability challenges\n\nLiaising with site managers, subcontractors and technical teams to ensure accurate delivery\n\nMaintaining accurate site records including as-built information, surveys and quality documentation\n\nEnsuring engineering works comply with drawings, specifications and health & safety standards\n\nPromoting best practice, safety compliance and continuous improvement on site\n\nContributing to the ongoing development of site engineering processes and capability\n\nProviding technical input and support to senior technical leadership where required\n\nEssential Requirements\n\nHNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline\n\n4–5 years’ experience in a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer role\n\nStrong experience on residential, mixed-use or infrastructure projects\n\nProficient with Total Stations, GPS rovers and machine control systems\n\nSolid understanding of groundworks, foundations, drainage, roads and services\n\nHigh level of IT literacy, including CAD and digital engineering tools\n\nStrong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills\n\nAbility to work independently and contribute positively to change and improvement\n\nDesirable\n\nDegree in Civil Engineering\n\nSMSTS qualification\n\nExperience working across both residential and infrastructure schemes\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\nCompetitive salary\n\nCompany vehicle or allowance (initial vehicle provided)\n\nPerformance-related bonus\n\nPension scheme\n\nPrivate medical insurance\n\nLife assurance\n\n25 days annual leave plus bank/public holidays\n\nLong-term career development within a forward-thinking construction business
