An established and well-regarded construction and housebuilding business is seeking a skilled Construction Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to support a portfolio of high-quality residential developments and associated infrastructure works.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer who enjoys being hands-on on live sites, while also contributing to the development and improvement of engineering processes across multiple projects.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide core engineering support across active construction sites, with a strong focus on setting out, technical problem-solving and digital engineering delivery. In addition, this role plays an important part in strengthening site engineering capability, supporting senior technical leadership with technical input, buildability advice and value engineering.

You will work closely with site management, technical teams and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Setting out and controlling works using Total Station and GPS equipment

Supporting and managing machine control systems across groundworks and infrastructure packages

Producing and maintaining digital models from CAD information to support site operations

Providing technical support to site teams, resolving engineering and buildability challenges

Liaising with site managers, subcontractors and technical teams to ensure accurate delivery

Maintaining accurate site records including as-built information, surveys and quality documentation

Ensuring engineering works comply with drawings, specifications and health & safety standards

Promoting best practice, safety compliance and continuous improvement on site

Contributing to the ongoing development of site engineering processes and capability

Providing technical input and support to senior technical leadership where required

Essential Requirements

HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

4–5 years’ experience in a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer role

Strong experience on residential, mixed-use or infrastructure projects

Proficient with Total Stations, GPS rovers and machine control systems

Solid understanding of groundworks, foundations, drainage, roads and services

High level of IT literacy, including CAD and digital engineering tools

Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and contribute positively to change and improvement

Desirable

Degree in Civil Engineering

SMSTS qualification

Experience working across both residential and infrastructure schemes
