SEND Teaching Assistant - Communication & Autism Support Focus
Aspire People are working with a supportive and inclusive primary school seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism and communication needs. This role is based within a structured classroom environment where routine, consistency, and communication strategies are key.
You will support across the classroom, working with a range of pupils, while also providing targeted support where needed.
The Role: * Supporting pupils with ASD and speech & language needs within the classroom * Assisting the teacher with structured lessons, visual timetables, and routine-based learning * Delivering small-group interventions focused on communication and social interaction * Encouraging engagement through sensory and interactive learning approaches * Supporting transitions and helping pupils manage change within the school day * Promoting a calm and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate: * Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD or communication needs * Understanding of strategies such as PECS, visual aids, or structured routines * Patient, consistent, and calm approach * Strong teamwork and communication skills * Passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
