Mechanical Engineering Functional Lead (Defence / Maritime Systems)
Location: New Malden (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)
Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Mechanical Engineering team
  • Oversee lifecycle delivery of mechanical/electromechanical systems
  • Ensure quality of designs, analyses, and technical documentation
  • Manage resources, recruitment, and team capability
  • Drive delivery against cost, schedule, and performance targets
  • Improve engineering processes, standards, and best practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple programmes

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience in defence, maritime, or aerospace systems
  • Strong knowledge of design, manufacturing, and analysis
  • Proven team leadership and capability development
  • Ability to review and approve engineering outputs
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status
  • CREO, Windchill or similar CAD/PLM tools
  • Knowledge of REACH/RoHS, FEA, CFD
