Job Description
Own projects from start to finish and see your work come to life in a new office space.\n\nWith hybrid working (two days in the office, three from home) and a generous annual bonus, you’ll enjoy greater flexibility and be rewarded for your contribution.\n\nAs a Design Manager, you’ll lead mechanical and electrical services on building refurbishments - shaping solutions that work in the real world, not just on paper. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of sectors and work directly with end-user clients, giving you valuable insight into how design decisions affect building performance and user satisfaction.\n\nStep away from pure concept design and into a role where you’ll deliver practical, buildable solutions. You’ll collaborate daily with architects, interior designers, project managers and quantity surveyors, broadening your understanding of the full project lifecycle.\n\nAnd with two Directors set to retire in the next few years, you’ll have a clear path to senior leadership—if that’s where you want to go.\n\nWhat you’ll do\n\nTake ownership on refurbishment projects, shaping systems that balance performance, cost and buildability.\n\nLead both pre- and post-contract stages, including tender reviews, technical input, value engineering and risk analysis.\n\nManage programme constraints and phasing, ensuring your designs fit seamlessly into live environments and phased construction.\n\nOversee subcontractor proposals, checking compliance and CDM requirements, and maintain strong communication with clients and project teams throughout.\n\nWhat you’ll need\n\n * \n\n Hands-on experience in building services, covering both mechanical and electrical systems.\n\n * \n\n Confidence managing pre- and post-contract duties, including technical reviews and client engagement.\n\n * \n\n Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.\n\n * \n\n A practical, problem-solving mindset that focuses on delivering workable, real-world solutions.\n\nAbout the company\n\nAn expanding design and build fit-out specialist who have grown steadily over 20 years in business.\n\nA relaxed environment awaits where hard work is repaid with trust and flexibility\n\nWith around 25 technical staff and employee ownership, you’ll join a team that values input, encourages development and rewards results.\n\nApply\n\nPlease click the ‘Apply’ button.
Don’t worry if your CV isn’t up to date. Just send what you have and we’ll cross that bridge later.\n\nYou can call me, Jim Tozer on (phone number removed) if you have any questions
