Job Description

Our client, a leader in the water industry, is seeking a skilled Design Manager to join their team in Manchester on a contract basis. This exciting opportunity will see you working on key projects such as Sewage Treatment Works (STW), Clean Main Renewals, and Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), with a minimum of three days required in the office.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nManage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates\nGrow the design team and maintain a positive ethos and attitude within the team\nLead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects\nChallenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for the design team and ensure work is undertaken using them\nIdentify and implement appropriate software packages, driving the use of BIM and 3D modelling where necessary\nEnsure the team produces design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements and are fully integrated\nEnsure the team produces design deliverables within agreed timescales and hours\nEnsure the team uses appropriate standards, best practice, and software tools\nFully record project changes for design packages\nAssist with estimating hours required for design packages\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nExperience in the engineering design industry in a regulated sector\nGraduate or HND qualification\nGood level of IT proficiency\nExperience in the regulated water industry\nTrack record managing multidisciplinary design teams and projects\nExperience building teams and developing junior staff\nDriving licence and access to a vehicle\nChartered engineer or working towards chartership\n\nKey Skills:\n\nStrong communication\nResults focused\nTechnical knowledge\nDeveloper of self and others\nProblem solving\nTeamwork\nIf you are an experienced Design Manager with a solid background in civil engineering and the water industry, we want to hear from you.
