Job Description
Learning Support Assistant - Special School
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist setting in Essex, supporting young people aged 16 to 19 with complex needs. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education and training and committed to helping learners achieve greater independence.
Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists in a special school environment, supporting individuals with a range of complex needs including learning disabilities, autism, and additional communication or sensory needs. The focus is on high-quality education and training that prepares learners for adulthood.
Key responsibilities include providing 1:1 and small-group support to learners aged 16-19, assisting with classroom activities, life skills, and personal development, supporting behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing, contributing to a safe and structured learning environment, and promoting engagement in meaningful education and training pathways.
We are looking for someone with experience or a strong interest in working in a special school setting, a caring and patient approach, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. As a Learning Support Assistant, you must be committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
This position is based in Essex, within a well-established special school, and you should be able to travel reliably within Essex as required.
We offer a supportive and experienced staff team, ongoing professional development opportunities, and a rewarding role making a real difference to young people's lives, all within a welcoming workplace in Essex.
If you are looking for a meaningful opportunity as a Learning Support Assistant in Essex, working with 16-19-year-olds with complex needs, we would love to hear from you.
