Job Description
Health & Safety Manager\nInterior Fit-Out Contractor | Office-Based, Central London | £60,000 – £70,000 per annum\nJob Title: Health & Safety Manager\nReporting To: Health & Safety Director & Operations Director\nSalary: £60,000 – £70,000 per annum\nLocation: Office-based, Central London (regular weekly site visits across Central London)\nHours: 08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday\nContract Type: Permanent, Full-Time\nSector: Interior Fit-Out / Commercial Construction\nAbout the Role\nThis is an exciting opportunity for an H&S professional who wants to do more than produce\npaperwork. Our client are looking for someone who understands the pace and culture of interior\nfit-out — someone who can walk a live site, immediately earn the respect of a project team, and\nwork shoulder-to-shoulder with project managers to find practical, proportionate solutions to\nhealth and safety challenges.\nThis role sits at the heart of our operations. You'll report into both the Health & Safety Director\nand the Operations Director, which reflects how central H&S is to the way we deliver our\nprojects.
You won't be a clipboard-carrier; you'll be a trusted partner to the business.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\n• Working directly alongside project management teams to embed a proactive safety\nculture across all live fit-out projects\n• Conducting regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments — but crucially,\nfollowing them up with actionable, pragmatic solutions rather than simply issuing\nreports\n• Developing and maintaining project-specific H&S plans, Construction Phase Plans\n(CPPs), and method statements\n• Acting as the go-to advisor for site managers and project managers on all H&S matters,\nwith a solutions-first mindset\n• Investigating incidents, near-misses and dangerous occurrences and driving corrective\naction\n• Managing relationships with the HSE, clients, principal contractors, and other key\nstakeholders\nPage: 1/3\n• Monitoring compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant legislation across the\nproject portfolio\n• Contributing to tender submissions where H&S capability is assessed\n• Reporting regularly to the H&S Director and Operations Director with clear, meaningful\nMI\n• Identifying and implementing training needs across the business and supporting the\ndevelopment of the wider team\nAbout You\nThe technical knowledge matters, but the attitude matters more. We need someone who gets\nthings done collaboratively, not someone who sits on the outskirts directing traffic. Interior fit-\nout is fast-moving — decisions get made quickly and timelines are tight.
You'll need to be\nadaptable, and genuinely respected by the people you work with.\nEssential:\n• NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum) or NEBOSH Diploma — degree-level\nequivalent \n• Proven experience in an H&S role within interior fit-out, refurbishment, or commercial\nconstruction\n• Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations\n• Demonstrable track record of working collaboratively with operational and project\nmanagement teams\n• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — able to influence at all levels, from\nsite operative to director\n• Solid understanding of the pace, pressures, and culture of a fit-out environment\nDesirable:\n• IOSH membership (Grad IOSH or CMIOSH)\n• Experience as a Main Contractor or Sub-Contractor H&S lead\n• SMSTS or SSSTS qualified\n• First Aid at Work certificate\n• Experience contributing to H&S sections of tender submissions\nThe Kind of Person We're Looking For\nOur client are quite deliberate about the personality fit here. You'll thrive in this role if you:\n• Are naturally collaborative — you see H&S as a team sport, not a solo policing mission\nPage: 2/3\n• Can hold a firm position when it matters, but do so constructively and with the bigger\npicture in mind\n• Are energised by a busy, varied project environment rather than an office-bound\ncompliance function\n• Take ownership and follow through — when you identify a risk, you don't just log it, you\nhelp fix it\n• Have a genuine interest in continuous improvement, not just regulatory compliance\nWhat Our Client Offers\n• Competitive salary of £60,000 – £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)\n• A genuine seat at the table — you'll report into two directors and your voice will be heard\n• A collaborative, no-nonsense working culture that values practical expertise\n• Office-based role with regular weekly site visits across Central London\n• Standard working hours of 08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday\n• Ongoing professional development and support for further qualifications
