Head of Commercial - Glasgow (Contract)

We are currently seeking an experienced Head of Commercial to join a leading organisation on a contract basis in Glasgow. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving commercial strategy, overseeing contract performance, and ensuring strong financial and risk management across the business.

Contract Details

·Start Date: 13 April 2026
·End Date: 31 December 2026 (likely extended)
·Engagement Type: Inside IR35
·Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
·Glasgow (travel expenses covered if not based locally)

The Role

As Head of Commercial, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across the organisation, ensuring contracts, supply chain relationships, and financial outcomes are aligned with business objectives. You will play a critical role in managing risk, improving commercial processes, and driving performance across a varied portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Leadership
·Lead contract negotiations and execution across project-based and resource-based agreements
·Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve target margins
·Adapt commercial approaches in line with business pipeline and delivery requirements
·Ensure effective supply chain engagement to support delivery and maintain balanced outcomes

Contract & Supply Chain Management
·Monitor performance of supply chain partners and manage contractual relationships
·Support project teams with pricing and act as final reviewer ahead of governance approvals
·Oversee all commercial governance processes prior to client submissions

Performance, Processes & Governance
·Collaborate with senior leadership to define and monitor KPIs
·Continuously improve commercial tools, systems, and processes
·Ensure commercial governance frameworks are robust and consistently applied

Financial & Risk Management
·Work closely with Finance on monthly P&L reporting and profit distribution
·Act as escalation point for commercial issues, resolving with client representatives where required

Contract Compliance
·Ensure all compensation events and variations are properly instructed and agreed in line with contract requirements

Stakeholder Engagement
·Lead and participate in commercial meetings with clients and partners
·Chair internal and external meetings to drive timely resolution of commercial matters

Requirements

·Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role
·Strong background in contract negotiation, governance, and financial management
·Experience managing supply chains and complex stakeholder environments
·Excellent communication and leadership skills
·Ability to operate strategically while supporting operational delivery
