Job Description
Estimator\n\nDaniel Owen are looking for an Estimator to join a reputable, leading contractor with a rich heritage, specialising in social housing, planned maintenance, and refurbishment. As they continue to expand their portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team and play a key role in securing and delivering high-quality projects.\n\nLocation: Birmingham/ Staffordshire\n\nPosition: Estimator\n\nSalary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Car allowance + Package\n\nContract Type: Permanent\n\nAvailability: This role is immediately available\n\nThe Role:\n\nAs an Estimator, you will take ownership of preparing accurate, competitive, and commercially sound tenders for a range of social housing refurbishment and maintenance schemes. Projects will typically include planned works, decarbonisation upgrades, kitchen and bathroom replacements, roofing programmes, external works, and void refurbishments.\n\nYou will work closely with the Pre-Construction Manager, Commercial Team, and Operational Delivery Teams to ensure all bids are strategically aligned, risk-assessed, and positioned to secure long-term partnerships and framework opportunities.\n\nThis is a key role within the business, offering real influence over pricing strategy, value engineering solutions, and overall bid success.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead the preparation, coordination, and submission of detailed cost estimates and tender returns\nAnalyse drawings, specifications, schedules of rates, and tender documentation to produce accurate pricing\nDevelop competitive pricing strategies in line with company objectives and client expectations\nObtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring best value and compliance\nIdentify and assess commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering options\nPrepare Bills of Quantities, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation\nAttend site visits to inform pricing and understand project scope\nContribute to pre-tender and post-tender meetings, negotiations, and clarifications\nLiaise with Business Development teams on framework submissions and long-term contracts\nMaintain and develop relationships with clients, subcontractors, and supply chain partners\nSupport continuous improvement of estimating systems, processes, and cost databases \n\nSkills & Experience Required:\n\nProven experience as an Estimator within the social housing, refurbishment, or planned maintenance sector\nExperience working on frameworks and local authority or housing association contracts\nExcellent understanding of cost control, pricing strategies, and tendering procedures\nStrong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail\nAbility to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to strict deadlines\nConfident communicator with strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills\nProficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office packages \n\nHow to Apply:\n\nIf you are interested in working for this established company, please apply with your updated CV
