Behaviour Mentor / Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant Contract: Permanent, Full Time, Term Time Only Start Date: January 2026 Salary: From £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Location: Bexley, South East London A primary school in Bexley is looking for an experienced Behaviour Mentor / Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time, term-time only basis from January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and dedicated professional who has strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Role Overview: Behaviour Mentor/ SEMH Teaching Assistant Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Help pupils develop positive behaviour, self-regulation and engagement with learning
Support the implementation of behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies
Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENCO and inclusion staff
Maintain a structured, calm and supportive learning environment
Encourage pupils’ emotional resilience, independence and social development
Work across the primary age range, adapting support to individual needs
