Youth Support Officers + Trainee Youth Support Worker

Duties:
To act as a point of contact for young carers and to provide them with information, advice and support and a range of advice on benefits and carer entitlements. Training on providing Welfare Benefits advice with be provided.
You will work directly with young carers aged 5 and up to achieve positive outcomes, identifying and preventing inappropriate caring responsibilities through assessments ensuring that young carers and their families have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs. You’ll also work support the delivery of our young carer’s activities programme.
We are looking for someone who has a real passion about our mission and with proven ability in communicating sensitively with children, young people and their families. You will have excellent organisational skills and be proficient in the use of IT. You will need to be available for occasional evening and weekend work.
Recent experience of providing E information, advice and support to young people. Sound knowledge of welfare benefits and D the ability to undertake benefit checks Good IT skills – using Microsoft Word and E Excel spreadsheets etc. Excellent administration, monitoring, IT, E and record keeping skills Experience of networking and developing E excellent working relationships with a broad range of organisations. Experience of producing clear and E accurate information resources in a variety of different formats for different audiences.

Qualifications: - Previous experience in a similar role preferred, but not required. - Knowledge of charity sector, school setting is a plus. - Compassionate and caring attitude towards service users - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
