Trainee Operations Officer

Job Purpose

To ensure efficient, accurate and timely performance of work relating to Import, Export and Guarantee transactions of the trade finance department, and ensure that Compliance policies and procedures are adhered with, protecting the bank at all times from loss or risk.

• Entry level role to Banking Operations
• Processing of Import and Export Letters of Credits.
• 1st /2nd check of Letter of Credit Documents
• Processing of Inward and Outward Collection documents
• Processing trade settlement, and claiming reimbursement where necessary
• Ensure all incoming swift messages pertaining to export documentary credit(s) / amendment(s) / confirmation(s) and correspondences are mapped for input in systems.
• Learn all governing rules for Trade Finance, UCP600, URC522, ISBP, etc
• Handle all trade finance queries
• Reconciliation of all liability accounts pertaining to trade and review of all daily due date reports

Minimum qualifications:

• A levels or equivalent (A-C)
• Batchelors degree (min 2:1)

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

• Strong communication skills as well as the ability to build rapport with internal & external customers
• Time Management. Multi-tasking and Planning skills are essentials
• Team player with the ability to deliver projects and to work within integrated, multi-disciplinary team
• Assertive, resilient to setbacks and goal focused
• Strong MS Office Skills. Good level of Excel skills an advantage

Please note this role requires being in the office 5 days a week.
