My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.
They are looking for an experienced Transfer Pricing Manager to join their Transfer Pricing Team on an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend. You will be working Monday to Friday, standard office hours with the occasional out of hours requirement in line with business needs. The role is hybrid working being in the office 3 days a week with the remainder of time working from home.
Purpose of Job
In this role you will provide support across several key workstreams during a period of heightened project activity. This role will oversee priorities related to IT, Treasury, governance, process enhancement, and documentation.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, practical delivery experience, clear communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams across multiple jurisdictions. They will be responsible for managing projects from initiation through completion, ensuring timely and effective execution.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Transfer Pricing Strategy & Planning Support and lead complex transfer pricing changes and engagements, providing robust, technically sound transfer pricing advice to the business. Lead and execute transfer pricing projects from end to end, including scoping, design, solution development, and full implementation into operational processes. Assist with the approval and implementation of transfer pricing strategies, ensuring effective coordination, timely communication, and alignment with key stakeholders, relevant internal functions, and external advisors. Operational Transfer Pricing Collaborate with Finance and other relevant functions to ensure the effective implementation of approved transfer pricing solutions. Drive automation initiatives and process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and operational consistency wherever possible. Oversee operational transfer pricing workflows, including the monitoring of actual results, identification of variances, and execution of required adjustments. Compliance & Documentation Assist in preparation of the annual transfer pricing documentation and maintain clear, accurate documentation of new transfer pricing procedures and processes. Support and lead initiatives to communicate, strengthen, and enhance transfer pricing controls and governance across the organisation and wider region.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Experienced transfer pricing professional, with knowledge gained at a Big 4 firm and, ideally, complemented by in‑house tax experience within the financial services sector. Deep understanding of OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines, BEPS initiatives, global transfer pricing documentation requirements, and cross‑border tax concepts. Strong analytical capabilities, including benchmarking analysis, financial modelling, and the interpretation and evaluation of financial statements. Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple complex projects in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, contributing effectively to team discussions and collective decision‑making.
