Sous Chef Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations. The Sous Chef will help oversee food preparation, maintain quality standards, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure a clean and efficient working environment. This role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to perform well under pressure. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and train kitchen staff Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation Oversee food preparation and cooking techniques Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies Control food costs and minimize waste Step in as acting Head Chef when required Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations Help develop new menu items and seasonal specials Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations Required Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior Chef Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment Leadership and team management skills Excellent time management and organizational abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Understanding of food safety regulations Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Preferred Qualities Creative and passionate about food Strong communication skills Problem-solving abilities Attention to detail Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Work Environment Fast-paced commercial kitchen Long hours standing and moving Exposure to heat, sharp tools, and kitchen equipment Job Type: Full-time Pay: From £13.84 per hour Benefits: Company pension Discounted or free food Employee discount Work Location: In person
