Senior Service Designer – Public Sector

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £75,000

Clearance: Must currently hold or have previously held SC clearance

Eligibility: Must have lived in the UK continuously for the past 5 years (no absences over 3 months)

The Opportunity

A leading design consultancy is seeking a Senior Service Designer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering impactful, human-centred services for the UK public sector. This is a chance to work on meaningful projects that improve lives and systems, while contributing to a growing design practice.

What You’ll Do

• Lead service design activities across discovery, alpha, beta, and live phases
• Conduct user research and map service journeys, ecosystems, and processes
• Facilitate co-creation workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
• Prototype service components and test with users to validate ideas
• Translate insights into actionable service improvements and design recommendations
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to internal design capability building

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of experience in service design or a related discipline
• Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end service design work
• Experience working in or with the UK public sector
• Familiarity with GDS standards and inclusive design practices
• Skilled in research, synthesis, facilitation, and visual communication
• Comfortable working in agile, cross-functional teams
