Malvern Optical are seeking a Senior Scientist with responsibility for the development, characterisation and modelling of novel electro-optical materials. Candidates should have a background in physics, materials science or a related discipline and should be able to demonstrate a theoretical understanding of the electro-magnetic spectrum (from ultraviolet to the far-infrared) and light-matter interactions. The role requires candidates to have strong computing skills and an aptitude to utilise modelling and computational software packages. It is desirable that candidates have experience in electro-magnetic field and material modelling, FDTD, computational and instrumentation software (e.g. LabView, Python, Matlab), computer vision tools, and machine learning tools (e.g. Tensorflow, PyTorch or SciKit-Learn). Other software experience such as graphical rendering packages (e.g. Unreal Engine) or basic CAD design,  would be beneficial. The successful applicant will become part of a small team of experienced scientists and engineers carrying out development of electro-optical (EO) materials, coatings and systems.
