Job Title: Freelance Intermediate / Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Swindon (Office-based)

We are working with a well-established civil engineering specialist who are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. A strong civils background is essential, and experience in the water utilities sector is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full commercial responsibility for allocated projects, including monthly cost reporting
• Manage and mentor junior members of the commercial team
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and the supply chain, including managing standard rate agreements
• Prepare and submit accurate valuations, supported by regular site visits
• Follow up on payments and keep senior management informed of any issues
• Price and agree project variations with clients and subcontractors, maintaining clear records
• Prepare contractual notices and administer subcontract conditions in line with company procedures
• Ensure timely and fair resolution of final accounts with clients and subcontractors
• Maintain well-organised commercial files (electronic and hard copy)
• Support pre-construction activities alongside the bid and contracts teams

Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in a civils environment
• Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual management principles
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Experience in the water utilities sector is desirable
• Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior team members effectively
