Senior Quantity Surveyor - High-Rise Project (Manchester)Manchester - £75,000 - £90,000 + packageThe OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial responsibility for a high-profile high-rise project in Manchester. You will work closely with the project and commercial teams to ensure successful delivery, manage risk, and maximise commercial returns.This role is ideal for a commercially astute QS with main contractor or builder-focused experience, confident in managing large-scale construction projects and leading a small team of commercial staff.Key ResponsibilitiesTake ownership of the commercial management for assigned project(s) or elementsImplement and integrate the project commercial strategyAct as the commercial representative to clients and supply chain, managing contractual issuesPrepare tenders, evaluate and select supply chain partners, negotiate and finalise ordersPrepare and agree client and supply chain valuations, certificates, and paymentsManage change control, variations, and ensure robust records are maintainedUpdate projected final accounts and prepare supply chain final accounts in a timely mannerParticipate in value engineering and design development discussionsMaintain independent oversight of commercial reporting, cash flow, and risk/opportunity registersLead and mentor junior commercial staff, ensuring high standardsSupport pre-construction and tender activities as requiredEnsure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and commercial systemsPerson SpecificationStrong written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to manage large-scale or complex projects and multiple stakeholdersCommercially aware, proactive, and confident in decision-makingExperience mentoring and leading commercial teamsKnowledge of construction technologies and their commercial implicationsExperience drafting contractual correspondence and managing disputesSkilled in procurement, negotiation, and letting complex subcontractsQualifications & Experience:Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction ManagementMinimum 10 years' experience in construction and commercial managementProfessional membership preferred (RICS / MCIOB)Values & CompetenciesWorks collaboratively and builds strong relationshipsProfessional, reliable, and proactiveTakes ownership of work and demonstrates strong commercial stewardshipSeeks continuous improvement and innovative solutionsActs with integrity and transparency, generating sustainable long-term resultsPackage & BenefitsCompetitive salary: £75,000 - £90,000Benefits package including car allowance, travel allowance, private medical insurance, pension, and life assuranceCareer development opportunities within a growing construction teamApply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris.Building Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
