Senior Design Manager - Facades & Cladding Location: Orpington Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 (DOE) A leading facades and cladding contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join its Orpington‑based team. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the design function across complex residential and high‑rise projects. The Role You will manage the full design lifecycle from pre‑construction through to completion, ensuring all design deliverables are coordinated, compliant, and aligned with programme and commercial objectives. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage design teams, subcontractors, and consultants across all project phases Ensure designs are fully coordinated, compliant with regulations, and meet company standards Develop and manage project‑specific design programmes and budgets Review technical submissions, alternative construction methods, and value engineering opportunities Coordinate design interfaces with Commercial, Operations, and Client teams Manage document control, design approvals, and change control processes Attend site meetings and inspections to ensure design compliance during construction Oversee the timely delivery of handover documentation, including O&M manuals and H&S files
Requirements
Proven experience managing design processes on residential or high‑rise projects Strong knowledge of facades, cladding systems, and construction methodologies Good understanding of UK legislation, including the Building Safety Act Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, with experience in BIM processes Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
