Senior Design Manager – Facades & Cladding

Location: Orpington
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000 (DOE)

A leading facades and cladding contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join its Orpington-based team. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the design function across complex residential and high-rise projects.

The Role

You will manage the full design lifecycle from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring all design deliverables are coordinated, compliant, and aligned with programme and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage design teams, subcontractors, and consultants across all project phases

* Ensure designs are fully coordinated, compliant with regulations, and meet company standards

* Develop and manage project-specific design programmes and budgets

* Review technical submissions, alternative construction methods, and value engineering opportunities

* Coordinate design interfaces with Commercial, Operations, and Client teams

* Manage document control, design approvals, and change control processes

* Attend site meetings and inspections to ensure design compliance during construction

* Oversee the timely delivery of handover documentation, including O&M manuals and H&S files

Requirements

* Proven experience managing design processes on residential or high-rise projects

* Strong knowledge of facades, cladding systems, and construction methodologies

* Good understanding of UK legislation, including the Building Safety Act

* Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, with experience in BIM processes

* Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
