About the Role Senior Design Engineer positioned in Finham (Coventry), responsible for leading design on sewage treatment upgrade projects, developing outline design, and shaping strategies for waste treatment assets. The role includes delivering detailed design, engaging stakeholders, and informing regulatory submissions. Key Responsibilities
Lead design on sewage treatment upgrade projects – understanding existing assets, undertaking risk assessments, developing feasible options and recommending solutions to the business. Undertake discipline‑led outline design to develop the details required for commercial discussions with the supply chain for new assets, meeting business needs and complex investigations. Develop strategies to enhance existing assets and contribute to price review regulatory submissions, collaborating across the business to support river quality, sustainability and net zero carbon plans. Carry out self‑led research on emerging technologies, defining new treatment options and promoting innovative strategies internally and externally. Promote the waste treatment capital maintenance programme, ensuring robust evidence‑based understanding of site performance to maintain final effluent quality. Provide tactical support and advice to operational teams to maintain availability and quality of waste treatment services. Ensure Health & Safety are built into the lifecycle of the design. Understand and review potential delivery and operational risks (e.g., H&S, environmental, commissioning) throughout the design process.
What You’ll Bring You will be degree qualified and be engaged as a member of an engineering institution or on a path to chartered status; an engineering discipline background with water industry experience is preferred but not essential. You will have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, the ability to build relationships with diverse groups, and a forward‑thinking mindset capable of responding to rapid change.
