Teach Now is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and nurturing primary school in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for their Reception / Early Years Foundation Stage department. This is a rewarding part-time, temporary opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs during a crucial stage of their development.
The school is known for its inclusive ethos, child-centred approach, and strong focus on emotional wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment where every child feels safe, supported, and encouraged to succeed. This role offers the chance to make a genuine difference in children’s lives while gaining valuable experience within a supportive early years team.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Work closely within the Reception / EYFS classroom to support learning and development
• Help children regulate emotions and develop positive social behaviours
• Support the class teacher with classroom routines and learning activities
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all pupils
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone who:
• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related field
• Has experience supporting children with SEN and/or SEMH needs (school-based or similar setting)
• Is patient, caring, and emotionally resilient
• Has a calm, consistent, and positive approach to behaviour support
• Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively
What’s on Offer
• Daily rate: £85–£100
• Working hours: 8:15am – 4:15pm, term time only
