A specialist SEMH school in Wigan is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a long-term opportunity within a highly supportive and structured alternative provision setting.
The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant , you will support pupils with a range of complex needs including SEMH, trauma-related behaviours, ADHD, and additional learning difficulties. Many pupils have experienced disrupted education, so the role requires patience, consistency, and strong relationship-building skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support
Supporting behaviour regulation using consistent strategies
Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons and interventions
Encouraging positive engagement with learning
Acting as a trusted adult and role model for pupils
This role involves working with small class sizes in a highly structured environment designed to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and academic progress.
