About
the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you
will be at the heart of your class team — guiding academic growth,
social development, and communication skills with a focus on
meaningful, successful learning.
You will plan
and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with Formal or Semi-Formal
Curriculum Pathways, create engaging learning environments, and
develop resources that inspire and challenge. Building positive
relationships with pupils and families will be key as you support
every child’s journey.
Key
Responsibilities
- Develop
and implement tailored schemes of work and lesson
plans - Plan thoroughly to deliver engaging,
high-quality lessons - Create and organise
stimulating learning environments and
resources - Foster positive relationships with
pupils and maintain strong communication with parents and
carers - Use assessment tools effectively to
track pupil progress and outcomes - Encourage
enthusiasm and a love of learning - Challenge
pupils to reach their full potential - Share
responsibility for pupil wellbeing, safety, and behaviour
management - Collaborate with colleagues and work
as part of a supportive team - Meet the needs
outlined in pupils’ Education, Health, and Care Plans
(EHCPs) - Develop expertise in teaching pupils
with ASD, sharing best practice - Maintain
accurate records following school
policies - Balance professional dedication with a
healthy work-life
balance
What We’re
Looking For
- GCSE C/4 or
above in English and Maths - UK Qualified Teacher
Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or
working towards - Commitment to high standards of
teaching and care - Passion for supporting pupils
with special educational needs and
autism - Strong communication and teamwork
skills
About
us
Acorn Park is a school for 160
pupils, who all have a primary diagnosis of Autism. We run two
curriculum pathways – Formal and Semi-formal. Our Complex needs
pupils are on the Semi-Formal Pathway which is highly personalised
from their EHCP. We have a mixture of Day and Residential pupils as
we have 8 co-located pupil’s homes on our 30 Acre site in rural
Norfolk. On site, we also have a large Forest School and Animal
Care Farm along with play facilities, a sports hall and sensory
rooms.
For over 19 years Options Autism have
provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with
autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading
provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young
adults. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our
sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide
measurable outcomes for those in our care.
