Role Overview\n\nWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join our primary school in Hillingdon, working within a small inclusion unit consisting of two classrooms. The unit supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and provides a nurturing, structured environment while promoting inclusion within the wider school community. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, personalised learning to help pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Plan, deliver, and assess tailored learning programmes for pupils within the inclusion unit, aligned with the National Curriculum and EHCP outcomes\n\n * \n\n Teach small groups and individual pupils across the two-classroom inclusion unit\n\n * \n\n Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH\n\n * \n\n Create a calm, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and independence\n\n * \n\n Work closely with teaching assistants to effectively support learning and wellbeing\n\n * \n\n Monitor pupil progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reviews, reports, and assessments\n\n * \n\n Collaborate with the SENCo, class teachers, and external professionals to ensure consistency and inclusion across the school\n\n * \n\n Support pupils’ reintegration into mainstream classes where appropriate\n\n * \n\n Communicate effectively with parents/carers and contribute to review meetings\n\n * \n\n Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all pupils\n\n * \n\n Participate in staff meetings, training, and whole-school development activities\n\nPerson Specification\n\nEssential Criteria:\n\n * \n\n Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)\n\n * \n\n Experience teaching pupils with SEN in a primary or specialist setting\n\n * \n\n Understanding of inclusion unit provision and personalised learning approaches\n\n * \n\n Ability to manage and teach small groups effectively\n\n * \n\n Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills\n\n * \n\n Excellent communication and teamwork abilities\n\n * \n\n Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice\n\nDesirable Criteria:\n\n * \n\n SEN qualification or relevant SEND training\n\n * \n\n Experience working in an inclusion unit or resource base\n\n * \n\n Knowledge of EHCP processes and local authority SEN procedures (Hillingdon)\n\n * \n\n Experience working with external agencies and specialists
