Overview

A global retail group is seeking an experienced Retail Merchandiser to lead assortment planning, inventory management, and in-store execution across European outlet stores. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on trading responsibility, focused on maximising sell-through, margin, and overall store performance.


Key Requirements

  • 10+ years’ retail merchandising experience, ideally in outlet/off-price
  • Strong analytical and commercial decision-making skills
  • Expertise in inventory planning, pricing, and markdown strategy
  • Solid understanding of retail KPIs
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management
  • Advanced Excel and ERP system knowledge


Responsibilities


Commercial & P&L Management

  • Own store performance, driving sales, margin, and profitability
  • Monitor KPIs and act on risks and opportunities
  • Partner with store teams to deliver commercial targets


Assortment & Buying

  • Plan and manage product assortments aligned to targets and stock availability
  • Make buying decisions to optimise product mix and performance
  • Continuously refine ranges based on trading data


Inventory & Replenishment

  • Manage stock levels and allocation across locations
  • Drive stock turn and minimise slow-moving inventory
  • Oversee replenishment to ensure optimal availability


Pricing & Promotions

  • Develop pricing and discount strategies for outlet stores
  • Manage markdowns, promotions, and clearance activity
  • Balance margin recovery with sell-through performance


Trading & Analysis

  • Track and report on sales, margin, and stock performance
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve results


Visual Merchandising

  • Lead in-store presentation and product placement
  • Ensure clear communication of pricing and promotions
  • Maintain high standards through regular store engagement


Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain and commercial teams
  • Support alignment on stock flow and trading priorities


Additional Support

  • Assist senior leadership with reporting, inventory oversight, and commercial reviews
