Job Description

Restructuring Associate (2–5 PQE) – US Law Firm – London

We are working on an exclusive mandate with a leading US law firm in London that is seeking to grow its highly regarded Restructuring & Insolvency team. The firm is particularly interested in attracting exceptional associates at the 2–5 PQE level with strong cross-border financial restructuring experience and first-rate credentials.

This is a rare opportunity to join a globally recognised platform handling some of the most complex and high-profile restructuring mandates in the market.

The Role

The team advises on the full spectrum of restructuring and insolvency matters, acting for a diverse client base including financial institutions, alternative credit providers, private equity sponsors, distressed investors, corporates, and insolvency practitioners.

You will be involved in:

  • Advising on complex cross-border financial restructurings, workouts, and insolvency proceedings.
  • Representing clients in distressed situations including debt-for-equity swaps, enforcement strategies, and court-led processes such as UK schemes of arrangement and restructuring plans.
  • Collaborative work with top-tier colleagues across the US, Europe, and other key jurisdictions, particularly on multi-jurisdictional mandates involving Chapter 11 and related processes.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 2–5 years of post-qualification experience in restructuring and insolvency law, ideally with a focus on complex cross-border financial restructurings.
  • Experience from a top-tier US, Magic Circle, or leading international law firm with exposure to sophisticated, high-value matters.
  • A strong academic background, likely from a top-ranking university and legal training institution.
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders, think commercially, and communicate clearly in high-pressure situations.
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in building a long-term career within an elite international platform.

The Firm

This firm is regarded globally as one of the most prestigious US firms operating in the restructuring space. In London, it continues to invest in building out its team with high-quality lateral hires and has a clear long-term strategy for expansion.

Key selling points include:

  • Access to a steady pipeline of high-profile, cross-border work.
  • Working closely with senior partners who are widely recognised as market leaders.
  • A lean team environment offering greater responsibility and visibility from day one.
  • A collegiate culture that values intellectual rigour and commercial insight.
  • Market-leading remuneration and career development support.
