Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a major multi-phase residential redevelopment located in central Southsea. This long-term position offers the opportunity to work on a landmark regeneration scheme spanning both new build construction and complex conversion works.\n\nProject Overview\n\n * \n\n Location: Centre of Southsea (former college redevelopment)\n\n * \n\n Site Size: 4.8 acres\n\n * \n\n Current Phase: Phase 2 – large-scale conversion works\n\n * \n\n Upcoming Phases:\n\n * \n\n Phase 3 & 4 – new build residential blocks\n\n * \n\n Phase 5 – minor conversion works\n\n * \n\n Completed: 32 apartments successfully delivered\n\nThis project is an approximate 50/50 split between new build and conversion, so strong experience in refurbishment and conversion surveying is highly advantageous.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key commercial role across multiple phases of the project. You’ll work closely with the project leadership team, managing costs, procurement, valuations, variations, and commercial reporting to ensure the scheme is delivered on time and within budget.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Full commercial management of both conversion and new build elements\n\n * \n\n Procurement of subcontractors, negotiation, and contract administration\n\n * \n\n Monthly valuations, cost reporting, and forecasting\n\n * \n\n Management of variations, change control, and commercial risk\n\n * \n\n Measurement, BOQs, and take-offs\n\n * \n\n Ensuring compliance with contractual terms and financial governance\n\n * \n\n Working collaboratively with site teams, design, and leadership staff\n\n * \n\n Supporting cost planning and programming across phases\n\nRequirements\n\n * \n\n Proven Quantity Surveying experience on residential projects\n\n * \n\n Strong background in conversion/refurbishment works is \n\n * \n\n Ability to manage commercial responsibilities across multi-phase developments\n\n * \n\n Excellent negotiation, communication, and organisational skills\n\n * \n\n Degree-qualified or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential)\n\n * \n\n Valid CSCS card (mandatory)\n\nContract Details\n\n * \n\n Type: Temporary or fixed-term (approx.
