Job Description

The Company\n\nA well-established, privately owned main contractor with a strong regional presence across the North of England is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support its growing North East operation.\n\nThe business delivers projects across Industrial, Logistics, Commercial and Residential sectors, working with a loyal client base and a trusted supply chain. Known for its stable workload, collaborative culture and commitment to developing talent, this is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career within a supportive main contracting environment.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of live construction projects, working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and site teams.\n\nThe role offers a balanced mix of site and office-based work, providing exposure to all aspects of the commercial lifecycle from procurement through to final account, with clear mentoring and progression opportunities.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAssisting with the commercial management of construction projects\n\nSupporting subcontract procurement, enquiries and package comparisons\n\nMeasurement, valuations, variations and cost control\n\nPreparation of monthly cost reports and forecasts\n\nAdministration of contracts under JCT & NEC forms\n\nSupporting the agreement of subcontractor accounts and final accounts\n\nLiaising with site teams to monitor progress and cost performance\n\nEnsuring compliance with commercial procedures and best practice\n\nAbout You\n\nExperience & Skills\n\nExperience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor\n\nKnowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts\n\nUnderstanding of construction commercial processes\n\nExperience with cost reporting and subcontract management\n\nCompetent with commercial systems and Microsoft Office\n\nDegree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (desirable)\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nEager to learn and develop within a commercial team\n\nStrong attention to detail and numerical ability\n\nGood communication and interpersonal skills\n\nOrganised with the ability to manage workloads effectively\n\nPositive, proactive and team-focused attitude\n\nWhat's On Offer\n\nSalary up to £65,000 + package (depending on experience)\n\nCar allowance, pension and private healthcare\n\nEnhanced annual leave and flexible benefits\n\nStructured development and mentoring from senior commercial staff\n\nClear progression toward Senior Quantity Surveyor\n\nLong-term regional pipeline of work
