Job Description

The Company\n\nA long-established, privately owned main contractor with a strong regional presence across the North of England is seeking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Northeast operations.\n\nThe business delivers high-quality schemes across Industrial, Logistics, Commercial and Residential sectors, working with repeat clients and operating with a long-term, relationship-led approach. Known for its stability, strong leadership and investment in people, this contractor offers a professional but supportive working environment with genuine career progression.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role within the regional Commercial team, working closely with project delivery teams to ensure robust commercial control from pre-construction through to final account.\n\nReporting directly to the Regional Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of one or multiple projects depending on size and complexity, acting as the commercial lead and supporting the wider commercial strategy for the region.\n\nThis role will involve a mix of site-based and office-based work, providing exposure to live projects and senior stakeholders.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nFull commercial management of projects from procurement to final account\n\nPreparation, management and negotiation of subcontract packages\n\nAdministration of contracts under NEC and JCT frameworks\n\nMonthly cost reporting, forecasting and earned value analysis\n\nManagement of valuations, variations, certificates and accruals\n\nSupporting project teams to achieve commercial and programme targets\n\nEnsuring compliance with company procedures and commercial best practice\n\nBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chain\n\nAbout You\n\nExperience & Skills\n\nProven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor\n\nStrong understanding of JCT and NEC contracts\n\nSound knowledge of construction law and commercial risk management\n\nExperience working on multi-disciplinary construction projects\n\nConfident managing subcontractors and commercial reporting processes\n\nStrong IT and reporting skills\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nCommercially astute and detail-driven\n\nStrong communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders\n\nOrganised and able to manage multiple workstreams\n\nTeam-focused with a collaborative working style\n\nProactive, professional and delivery-focused\n\nWhat's On Offer\n\nSalary up to £75,000 + package\n\nCar allowance, pension and private healthcare\n\nEnhanced annual leave and flexible benefits\n\nStrong pipeline of secured regional work\n\nClear progression routes toward Managing QS / Commercial Manager\n\nSupportive culture with long-term career stability
