Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
We're looking for a commercially driven and detail‑focused Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to play a key role in managing subcontractor accounts, supporting project delivery teams, and ensuring the successful commercial performance of our projects within the defence sector. If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment and enjoy working across procurement, contract management, and stakeholder engagement, this role offers the perfect opportunity to make a real impact.
What You'll Be Doing
Managing the full commercial lifecycle of subcontract accounts - from procurement through to interim valuations and final account agreement.
Providing expert commercial and contractual advice to Programme, Project Management, and Operations teams.
Establishing and agreeing project programmes, forecasts, and commercial performance reporting.
Securing labour, materials, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Leading sourcing and tendering activities in line with procurement strategies and relevant legislation, including single‑source contracting.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and subcontractors to resolve escalated issues.
Supporting dispute resolution activities and ensuring the successful closure of commercial claims.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
Proven Quantity Surveying experience within the construction sector.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, pricing mechanisms, and optimal contracting routes.
Ability to work effectively under time pressure and manage competing priorities.
Desirable
Professional membership or working towards RICS or MCIPS.
Solid understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contract suites.
Experience leading or coaching junior team members
