Production Team Lead\n\nDefence\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe Manufacturing Team Leader is accountable for overseeing a designated production area, coordinating people, materials, and processes to ensure daily output targets are achieved while complying with operational, quality, and safety requirements.\n\nDirect Reports: Manufacturing Operatives\n\nKey Accountabilities\n\n * \n\n Oversee end-to-end production activities, from receipt of components through assembly, testing, and dispatch\n\n * \n\n Ensure all operations within the assigned area comply with organisational procedures, quality standards, and best practice\n\n * \n\n Provide hands-on support to the team when required, including:\n\n * \n\n Assembling electro-mechanical products in line with IPC-A-610 requirements\n\n * \n\n Performing automated and manual testing of assemblies\n\n * \n\n Packaging finished goods\n\n * \n\n Conducting self-inspection to confirm product quality\n\n * \n\n Logging defects, errors, or non-conformances within the ERP system\n\n * \n\n Track and deliver performance against agreed KPIs relating to output, quality, cost, and health & safety\n\n * \n\n Promote and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, lead time reduction, cost control, quality enhancement, and waste elimination\n\n * \n\n Deliver training and cross-skilling of team members to agreed operational standards\n\n * \n\n Encourage positive team engagement and strong working relationships through leadership by example\n\n * \n\n Apply non-conformance procedures to ensure defective materials are identified and returned to suppliers\n\n * \n\n Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures\n\n * \n\n Act as deputy for the Manufacturing Manager when required\n\n * \n\n Manage material shortages and stock discrepancies via the ERP system and liaison with stores and procurement teams\n\n * \n\n Lead daily Tier 1 meetings, escalating relevant issues to Tier 2 forums where necessary\n\nPeople Leadership\n\n * \n\n Lead, motivate, and develop direct reports to ensure performance targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to quality standards\n\n * \n\n Coach team members to enhance technical capability and role effectiveness\n\n * \n\n Deliver on-the-job training and skills development\n\n * \n\n Conduct performance reviews and development discussions\n\n * \n\n Carry out return-to-work interviews and attendance-related processes\n\nTools & Equipment\n\n * \n\n Automated and manual test equipment\n\n * \n\n PC-based systems including ERP software for time recording and job tracking\n\n * \n\n Standard manufacturing tools (e.g. crimpers, wire preparation tools, soldering equipment, heat guns)\n\n * \n\n Production machinery as defined within standard operating processes
