Apply for the Procurement Category Manager role at London Borough of Hackney. Our procurement team is divided into three main category areas: Construction and Environment; Adult and Children Public Health; and Corporate Services. This role sits within the Corporate Services team and reports directly to the Procurement Category Lead. Role Overview The position focuses on commercial value and will oversee a diverse and critical procurement portfolio across the following areas:
Financial services: pensions, debt management, treasury operations, insurance, and actuarial services. Facilities management: security, cleaning, catering, and office relocation. Vehicle fleet supplies and associated support services. Temporary accommodation supplies to fulfill statutory obligations related to homelessness. Human resources, consultancy services, and transformation. Communication, transformation, media and events. Parking and streetscene.
Responsibilities
Oversee procurement work streams for major and strategically significant contracts within a designated category area of expenditure. Apply the Procurement New Act Regulations and lead complex procurement projects. Run tenders from start to finish, utilizing different framework agreements. Communicate clearly, confidently, and authoritatively in line with Council policies, building strong relationships with stakeholders and peers. Organise and deliver all work on time, meeting agreed quality standards.
Qualifications
Experience with the Procurement New Act Regulations and complex procurement projects. Proven ability to manage tenders end‑to‑end and use framework agreements. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated organisational and delivery skills.
