A RARE CORNERSTONE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY FOR A PRINCIPAL PROPERTY & PLANNING LAWYER


Are you between contracts and ready to step into a senior, high‑impact local government legal role?


We are urgently seeking a Principal Property & Planning Lawyer to support a highly reputable local authority in Greater London on a short‑term interim basis.


Location: Outer East London area

Contract: 8 weeks

Rate: £346.92 per day (Inside IR35)

Start: Early May 2026


This is a genuinely rare opportunity to operate at Principal level, acting as the Council’s lead legal specialist on complex and high‑profile property and planning matters.


The role covers landlord and tenant matters, easements and wayleaves, collective enfranchisement, leasehold extensions, Right to Buy, S106 and S278 agreements, highways and infrastructure matters, CIL, and land acquisition and disposal. You will also advise senior officers and members and support Cabinet and Committee decision‑making.


This role will suit an experienced UK local government lawyer (min. 4 years PQE) who can hit the ground running and operate confidently with minimal handover.
