Can you proactively manage and grow key accounts to deliver against ambitious sales and profitability targets?


MacGregor Black are partnering with a leading UK-based supplier within the hardware, DIY and trade sector, on the search for a National Account Manager.


As National Account Manager, you will be responsible for driving commercial performance across key national accounts, while identifying and securing new business opportunities. You will be a dynamic and commercially astute individual; your ideas and initiatives will contribute to the continued growth of the business. Strong organisational, analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you will manage a portfolio of key national accounts within the DIY, trade and merchant sectors.
  • Managing major customers such as Toolstation, Selco, Huws Gray and Jewson, ensuring the business meets and exceeds their expectations.
  • Develop and implement robust account plans aligned to both customer and company growth objectives.
  • Define sales targets, annual forecasts and implement necessary measures to ensure delivery against plan.
  • Identify commercial opportunities and business gaps, working cross-functionally to deliver solutions.
  • Take full ownership and accountability for forecasting accuracy, working closely with internal teams including supply chain and product.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders across all customer accounts.
  • Drive account profitability through effective negotiation of pricing, terms and promotional activity.
  • Prepare regular reports highlighting sales performance, forecasts and opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to optimise product ranges and customer propositions.
  • Drive incremental revenue by identifying and securing new national account opportunities within the sector.


What We're Looking For:


  • Proven track record at National Account Manager level within hardware, DIY, trade or merchant sectors
  • Experience managing and developing major national accounts
  • Demonstrable success in delivering profitable sales growth
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and influencing skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong organisational and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, driven and hands-on approach
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels internally and externally
  • Flexibility for national travel as required
