Multi-Skilled Engineer Fresh People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing operation based in Canterbury, operating within a fast-paced FMCG production environment.
Due to continued investment and site development, a Multi-Skilled Engineer is required to join the Engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a high-volume manufacturing site with a clear focus on reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
The Role As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive breakdowns, and supporting engineering projects to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of site machinery and equipment.
You will play a key role in minimising downtime, improving equipment performance, and supporting a safe and compliant production environment.
Key Responsibilities Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with site schedules, ensuring work is completed efficiently and accurately recorded
Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
Undertake proactive fault finding and root cause analysis to prevent repeat issues
Support engineering and site improvement projects, including installation, modification, and commissioning of equipment
Work on electrical installations up to 430V, including control circuits, PLCs, and VSDs
Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work completed, parts used, and time spent
Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety regulations and site standards
Work collaboratively with production teams and external contractors where required
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and engineering processes
About You Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or above) or completed engineering apprenticeship
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience within an FMCG or manufacturing environment
Confident working with electrical control systems, PLCs, and VSDs
Proven experience using root cause analysis to resolve technical issues
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance
Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider engineering team
Good communication skills and a professional approach to working with stakeholders at all levels
Shift Pattern 28-day continental rotation
14 days on / 14 days off - 3 days on, 2 nights on, 5 days off, 2 days on, 2 nights on, 5 days off, 2 days on, 3 nights on, 4 days off

Combination of days and nights

6am 6pm (days)

6pm 6am (nights)

12-hour shifts
