We are seeking a skilled and dedicated MOT Tester to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and be adept in using both power and hand tools. As an MOT Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of vehicles by conducting thorough inspections and tests. This position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive MOT tests on various vehicle types, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
Perform detailed inspections of vehicle components, including brakes, lights, steering, and exhaust systems.
Utilise both power tools and hand tools effectively to carry out repairs and adjustments as necessary.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and test results in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Communicate findings clearly to customers, providing recommendations for necessary repairs or maintenance.
Adhere to health and safety regulations while working in the workshop environment.
Assist with heavy lifting tasks when required during vehicle handling and movement.

Requirements

Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle maintenance or repair.
Proficiency in using both power tools and hand tools relevant to automotive testing.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed during inspections and repairs.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work methodically under pressure.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
A valid MOT Tester certificate is preferred but not essential; training may be provided for the right candidate.
