Employer: A well-established M&E contractor
Location: Based in Kent, delivering major mechanical projects in Canary Wharf, London
Salary: Up to £70,000 + car allowance + travel expenses paid
Reporting to: Operations Director
Purpose of the Job
The Mechanical Project Manager will take full ownership and accountability for the delivery, financial performance, quality, and programme of mechanical projects from estimation handover through to completion and client training. Projects will range in value from £100k to £5m and must be delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
*
Direct and manage mechanical project delivery from start to finish, assuming responsibility and accountability for all project aspects
*
Liaise effectively with main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
*
Plan and manage the utilisation of labour, plant, and materials
*
Communicate project expectations clearly and promptly to team members and stakeholders
*
Coordinate the efforts of project teams and third-party contractors to achieve project objectives
*
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones; monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and ensure deliverables remain on track
*
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and develop contingency plans
*
Draft and submit budget proposals; review and recommend changes with client approval as needed
*
Develop and maintain strong business relationships instrumental to project success
*
Prepare and update weekly cost-control sheets
*
Prepare and issue weekly/fortnightly progress reports

Strong IT skills, including experience with project management software

Strong team coordination skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
Experience and Qualifications
*
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical project management, including fast-track fit-out environments
*
Proven track record of successfully delivering mechanical projects
*
Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering
*
Postgraduate qualification in project management advantageous
*
Equivalent qualifications or significant relevant industry experience will also be considered
