Our client, a leading facilities management provider, is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. Working Monday to Friday, this role is essential for maintaining a range of mechanical systems, ensuring that educational environments remain functional and safe for students and staff.
The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll:
Deliver planned, scheduled, and reactive maintenance across a variety of mechanical systems, including air handling units, fan coil units, heating, water, and drainage.
Undertake occasional installation and project tasks to help improve and upgrade facilities, expanding your technical skillset.
Provide accurate quotations for small works and efficiently manage your workload using Maximo (our CAFM system).
Complete all maintenance paperwork promptly and accurately, maintaining clear records for compliance and operational transparency.
Liaise with suppliers, advise on parts and labor, and assist with managing stock levels to ensure operational efficiency.
Supervise and support external contractors when necessary, ensuring work is completed to required standards.
Join a supportive on-call rota for after-hours assistance, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to continuous service.
Follow strict Health & Safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for everyone on site.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in the role of Mechanical Engineer, you’ll bring:
Proven experience in building services maintenance, ideally across multiple sites.
A strong understanding of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work procedures.
A full UK driving license and Enhanced DBS certification.
Desirable qualifications include NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, Gas Safe registration (domestic and commercial), and previous experience in education contracts.
Knowledge of asset lifecycle management, Competent Person L8 experience, Asbestos Awareness, and Health & Safety/COSHH are advantageous.
