Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a leading engineering business to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical and structural design across a major international plant programme. This is a hands-on design role, ideal for someone with a strong background in fabricated structures who enjoys working across the full design lifecycle - collaborating with manufacturing, suppliers, and site teams to deliver complex engineering solutions. Design Engineer You’ll play a key role in the design and development of large-scale fabricated structures and plant systems, supporting delivery across a high-profile, multi-phase international project. Key responsibilities include: Designing heavy fabricated structures such as skids, frames, platforms, lifting equipment, and large assemblies Producing and checking engineering drawings and models in line with relevant standards (BS 8888, EN 1090, ISO 3834) Supporting structural and mechanical calculations (static loading, basic fatigue, weld sizing, GD&T, etc.) Working closely with fabrication, production, and QA teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable (DfMA) Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to support design delivery and resolve technical queries Assisting with WPS/WPQR documentation, inspection plans, and quality requirements Supporting site activities including FAT/SAT, RFIs, and technical queries during build and installation phases Producing and maintaining technical documentation such as BOMs, drawings, and reports Contributing to continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes About You:This role would suit an experienced Design Engineer looking to step up, or a Senior Engineer wanting to remain hands-on in a technically interesting environment. xehkeey You’ll likely have: Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) Strong experience in fabricated/welded structures within a heavy engineering or regulated environment Good understanding of relevant standards (BS/EN, welding/fabrication codes) Experience producing and checking engineering drawings and design outputs Knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly fabrication and welding Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams Proficiency in 3D CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar) Exposure to engineering calculations (FEA experience beneficial but not essential) Why Join?
