Managing Quantity Surveyor – Major Infrastructure Projects (Highways / Rail)
Birmingham or London - Salary dependant on location and experience.
We’re supporting a leading civil engineering contractor delivering some of the UK’s most critical infrastructure programmes, and we’re looking to appoint an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to play a key leadership role.
This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact position on complex, high-value highways and rail schemes, working within a business known for delivering nationally significant projects.
The Role
You’ll take commercial ownership across major projects or frameworks, leading a team of Quantity Surveyors while working closely with operational and client stakeholders. You’ll be instrumental in driving commercial performance, managing risk, and ensuring robust contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a commercial team across large-scale infrastructure projects
- Oversee cost management, forecasting, and reporting
- Manage NEC contracts (or similar) including change control and dispute resolution
- Drive value engineering and commercial best practice
- Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain, and internal teams
About You
- Proven experience as a Senior QS or Managing QS within civil engineering
- Strong background in highways or rail projects
- Deep understanding of NEC contracts
- Commercially astute with strong leadership capability
- Degree qualified (or equivalent), with professional membership (e.g. RICS) desirable
