Howdens are recruiting Machine Operators to join our manufacturing site in Runcorn, Cheshire, to safely manufacture a range of panels, rails, and frontals to the correct quality specification. With significant investment driving the expansion of the site, including the installation of a state-of-the-art, high-volume panel machining line, this is a fantastic opportunity to join us at a pivotal moment and play a key role in our exciting growth journey.
You’ll work as part of a collaborative team, focused on improving processes to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency in manufacturing.

Pay Rate | £42,137 per annum + £5,771 shift allowance
Shift Pattern |
- Week 1 - 07.00am – 3.00pm (Monday to Friday) - Week 2 – 11.00pm – 7.00am (Sunday to Thursday) - Week 3 – 3.00pm – 11.00pm (Monday to Friday)

What will you be doing as a Machine Operator:
- Performing machine pre use safety checks and setting up the machine in the allocated time frame using the specific SOP - Continuous monitoring of the machine during production - Performing detailed process quality checks in accordance with the area SOP and in line with the published control plans and gauges provided - Weekly autonomous and preventative maintenance - Performing minor adjustments when required and ensuring the area is maintained to the agreed housekeeping standards - Work to drawing specifications to produce products accurately and to the correct quality standards
What do you need to qualify for the Machine Operator:
- Previous manufacturing experience working in a fast-paced factory environment - Ability to read and understand manual handling risk assessments and SOPs - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings - Have a background in edge banding technology and/or CNC cutting/drilling - Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, combined with a continuous improvement mindset and a solid understanding of the 5S methodology to consistently identify and implement process improvements
