Job Description

Lead React Engineer | £110,000 + Equity | React | TypeScript | London | Hybrid

Join a fast-growing, early-stage consumer start-up that’s reimagining how people make last-minute plans. The product is already live in London and New York, with an active and engaged user base, and the business is now entering its next phase of growth.

This is an opportunity to step in as the first in-house technical lead, owning the engineering direction while working closely with senior stakeholders to scale both the product and the team.

You will be responsible for:

Owning and evolving the mobile and backend architecture across the full stack Building and scaling user-facing features using React and TypeScript Improving performance, reliability, and overall user experience Integrating third-party services such as payments, messaging, and analytics platforms Collaborating with an offshore engineering team to deliver high-quality releases Shaping the technical roadmap alongside product and leadership Setting engineering standards around code quality, speed, and best practices Mentoring engineers and supporting future team growth

Requirements:

Strong experience building consumer-facing (B2C) mobile products Expert-level experience with React and TypeScript A full-stack mindset (APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure) Experience working in early-stage or fast-moving start-up environments Comfortable taking ownership and working with ambiguity Based in London (hybrid working model)

Frontend: React , TypeScript, Expo, React Backend: Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Redis Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Terraform Integrations: Payments, messaging, subscriptions, analytics
