HGV Class 1 Driver – West Bromwich

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in West Bromwich, West Midlands.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay and genuine opportunities to grow and progress.

Shifts:

  •  5 days out of 7 (weekends included)

  •  Afternoon start times between 14:00 and 17:00

Rates of Pay:

  •  £17.20 per hour (basic rate)
  •  £20.00 per hour after 20:00 (Monday - Saturday)
  •  £22.00 per hour (Sunday)

Day-to-Day Duties:

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  •  Completing store deliveries involving cage work
  •  Operating and driving Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently
  •  Carrying out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  •  Ensuring all loads are secured correctly
  •  Adhering to traffic laws and regulations
  •  Communicating effectively with dispatch and customers
  •  Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance needs
  •  Assisting with loading and unloading when required
  •  Delivering cages to distribution centres and supermarkets
  •  Completing up to two drops per shift

Essential Skills:

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

  •  Valid UK Category CE driving licence
  •  Minimum of twelve months' experience driving CE vehicles
  •  Valid UK Driver CPC card and Digital Tachograph card
  •  No more than six penalty points for minor offences and no major endorsement codes
  •  Good level of spoken and written English
  •  Excellent xbpsjku time-keeping and punctuality
  •  Good understanding of traffic laws and regulations
  •  Effective communication skills

Desirable Experience:

  •  Previous commercial driving experience
  •  Previous multi-drop delivery experience

Training:

  •  Driver assessment must be completed prior to starting
