Our client is a well-established and growing real estate organisation providing property management, facilities management, and advisory services across commercial and residential portfolios.

The business is known for its proactive, service-led approach and works closely with property owners, investors, and occupiers to ensure buildings are well managed, compliant, and financially stable. As a RICS-regulated firm, they combine technical expertise with a strong client-focus, delivering high standards of service across a diverse portfolio.

Following continued growth and investment in their operations, the business is now looking to appoint a Head of Client Accounting to lead and develop its client finance function.

The successful candidate will lead accurate financial reporting, compliance, and process optimisation across large-scale portfolios, acting as a key advisor to the CFO and senior leadership. The role also focuses on driving efficiency, improving processes, and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Oversee statutory accounts, service charge budgets, reconciliations, and financial reporting across client portfolios
  • Ensure robust financial controls, accurate records, and full audit compliance
  • Act as the escalation point for complex service charge and lease-related matters
  • Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and data integrity

Stakeholder & Reporting Responsibilities

  • Present financial reports and KPIs to senior leadership and clients
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, leaseholders, consultants, and auditors
  • Support senior leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of client and property accountants, setting clear expectations and performance standards
  • Prioritise workloads across the team to ensure deadlines, reporting cycles, and service levels are consistently met
  • Implement structured, well‑organised workflows and processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and accountability
  • Foster a collaborative, high‑performing team culture focused on continuous improvement and professional development

Qualifications & Skills

  • Extensive experience in senior finance roles within property management across commercial and residential portfolios
  • Strong knowledge of property accounting principles, including service charge reconciliation, rent processing, and financial reporting
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with financial or property accounting systems (e.g., MRI, Qube, Horizon, or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
