Role Purpose
The Head of Business Intelligence leads all UK business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and customer relationship management capability building. The role delivers high‑quality insights that inform strategic and operational decisions across commercial, medical, market access, finance, operations, and leadership teams. This role owns the UK data strategy, data governance, and reporting infrastructure—ensuring insights are accurate, compliant, timely, and fully aligned with NHS structures and ABPI expectations.
Specific Responsibilities
BI Strategy, Governance & Leadership
- Develop and own the UK Business Intelligence strategy, ensuring it supports the company’s growth agenda and decision‑making needs.
- Working cross functionally with the commercial, finance and medical functions to build and execute the short-, medium- and long-term strategy for the company focussing on business development and in-house opportunities.
- Establish strong data governance principles, ensuring data quality, structure, and compliance.
- Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of BI systems, dashboards, reporting processes, and analytical frameworks.
- Serve as the organisation’s BI thought leader, embedding a data‑driven culture across all teams.
Analytics, Reporting & Insights Delivery
- Deliver high‑quality insights on sales performance, forecasting, market trends, competitor activity, and brand performance across therapy areas.
- Produce regular dashboards, KPI reports, and deep‑dive analytics that support commercial and medical performance management.
- Provide clear, concise insights and recommendations to the UK Leadership Team, translating complex datasets into practical, actionable guidance.
- Ensure timely insights to support long‑range planning (LTP), budgeting, launch planning, and portfolio optimisation
CRM & Customer Data Strategy
- Lead CRM strategy, rollout, optimisation, and user adoption across the UK affiliate.
- Ensure CRM systems enable structured account planning, customer engagement tracking, segmentation, and analysis.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Market Access colleagues to ensure CRM supports effective field execution and customer impact.
Cross‑Functional Business Partnering
Act as a strategic partner to:
- Commercial teams (brand planning, demand forecasting, targeting)
- Medical Affairs (scientific insight generation, tracking, and evidence planning)
- Market Access (pathway insights, opportunity sizing, regional mapping)
- Finance & Operations (S&OP, demand planning, supply resilience)
- Ensure insights are consistent, reliable, and support joined‑up planning across the organisation.
NHS Data, Market Intelligence & Environment Analysis
- Interpret NHS structural changes, policy updates, commissioning shifts, and ICB evolution to inform strategic planning.
- Build reporting and analytics that reflect NHS complexity and regional variation.
- Maintain strong understanding of UK healthcare datasets (IQVIA, OpenPrescribing, NHS publications, formulary data, etc.).
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build, develop, and lead a BI function capable of supporting a rapidly growing organisation.
- Embed strong analytical standards, project management discipline, and data literacy across the business.
- Provide coaching and development to team members and serve as the organisational expert on BI best practice.
Essential experience
- Robust experience in Business Intelligence, analytics, or insights roles within the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong understanding of UK NHS structures, data sources, and decision‑making pathways.
- Demonstrated experience building BI systems, dashboards, forecasting tools, CRM optimisation, and analytics processes.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear narratives for senior leadership.
- Experience partnering cross‑functionally with commercial, medical, market access, and finance teams
- People management experience
- High proficiency in data visualisation tools (Power BI), Excel, SQL or equivalent.
- Essential knowledge of Python
- Strong capability in forecasting, segmentation, and statistical analysis.
- Understanding of ABPI-compliant data use and governance requirements.
- Analytical, structured, and curious, with an ability to handle complexity.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills—able to influence non‑technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player who thrives in fast‑paced, growing organisations.
