A leading international architecture and design studio is seeking a Head of Business Development (UK) to lead its growth strategy and project pipeline from its London office.This globally recognised practice operates across multiple studios worldwide, bringing together architects, designers, and creatives to deliver ambitious projects spanning architecture, urbanism, landscape, and design. With a strong reputation for design excellence, the London studio plays a key role in securing and delivering high-profile work across the UK.As Head of Business Development (UK), you will be responsible for shaping and driving the UK pipeline, identifying strategic opportunities, and leading major project pursuits from inception through to appointment. Working closely with the London Managing Director, Partner group, and global leadership, this is a senior, high-impact role combining strategic oversight with hands-on delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the UK business development strategy and oversee the London pipelineIdentify and pursue high-value opportunities across the UK built environmentWork closely with senior leadership to define market priorities and pursuit strategiesEvaluate new opportunities and provide strategic recommendations on project viabilityLead responses to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and other client submissionsCollaborate with bid and commercial teams on fee proposals and negotiationsChair and manage regular pipeline meetings with senior leadershipOversee and contribute to high-quality proposal production and positioningBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, collaborators, and key stakeholdersCoordinate and facilitate meetings between prospective clients and senior leadershipRepresent the practice at industry events, conferences, and client engagementsMaintain CRM systems and provide regular pipeline reporting
About You
You bring a strong understanding of the UK built environment, with the ability to align commercial strategy with design-led opportunities. You are confident operating at both a strategic and delivery level, equally comfortable leading client conversations and driving internal processes.
Skills & Experience
7+ years’ experience in business development, strategy, or client development within architecture or the built environmentStrong knowledge of UK development markets and procurement processesProven track record in leading bids, pursuits, and client negotiationsExcellent communication skills (written, verbal, and visual)Highly organised with strong strategic thinking capabilityExperience managing multiple bids and deadlines simultaneouslyProficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign essential)Experience using CRM systems (knowledge of SugarCRM beneficial)Background or qualification in Architecture, Business, Marketing, or a related fieldEstablished network within the UK property and development sector
