Julies Restaurant is seeking an experienced and confident Head Host to lead the reception and reservations function. This is a central role within the restaurant. You will be responsible for managing the guest journey from the moment of booking through to departure, ensuring a warm, efficient, and well-paced experience throughout. The position requires both presence on the floor and strong organisational control behind the scenes. Working closely with the Reservations & Events Manager and the wider front of house team, you will oversee bookings, manage the flow of service, and maintain the standard of welcome that Julies is known for. Key Responsibilities Leading the host team and setting a consistent, professional standard at the door Managing the reservations system with accuracy and attention to detail Managing large group bookings, taking pre-orders and advising on set menu decisions Editing and printing the menu prior to each service, including set menus for large group bookings Planning and organising table allocations to balance guest experience and commercial performance Handling enquiries, bookings, and special requests with care and discretion Maintaining close communication with the floor and kitchen teams to support the flow of service Responding to guest feedback with professionalism and sound judgement Building and maintaining guest profiles, including preferences and key dates Supporting events and contributing to repeat business and guest retention Maintenance of the reservations inbox, and following up on confirmation calls
Experience and Skills Previous experience as a Head Host or senior Host in a busy, quality-led restaurant Strong organisational ability and a structured approach to service Confidence managing high-volume services without loss of attention to detail Excellent communication skills and a composed, professional manner A good understanding of food and beverage, with an interest in wine Comfortable using reservations systems and maintaining accurate guest records
