The Empress has become one of the most well-loved gastro pubs in East London over the last 15 years. We are fiercely independent and very much part of our local Hackney community.

Our current head chef is leaving behind an established team of cooks and a kitchen that is in a good place.

Although you will have autonomy on the menu we know what does and doesn't work.

We're not looking for a tweezer expert to send us down a Michelin-starred fusion rabbit hole.

We use the best suppliers (Swaledale, Fin and Flounder, E5 Bakehouse, Neal's Yard, etc) and aim to put out great, seasonal European food that is appropriate in an east London dining room setting.
